How to pass FAR.

My first FAR score notice: 74, fail

First attempt: 74

My second FAR score notice: 74, fail

34 days later: 74

My third FAR score notice: 79, pass

Then: 79

All three mine. Two 74s, 34 days apart. Same study method got the same score, twice. A different method got the pass. The rest of this page is what changed.

Where is the row for lectures?

Why people fail FAR.

They cover all of FAR once instead of the scoring core twice.

FAR is the widest section, but it is not flat. Revenue, leases, bonds, deferred taxes and consolidations repeat; the long tail does not. Passing is depth on the repeaters, not a second lap through everything.

They recognize the journal entry and cannot produce it.

Reading a worked solution feels like knowing. On exam day nothing is worked. The gap between nodding at a debit and writing it cold under a clock closes only through reps.

They lose to dates and signs, not standards.

A mid-year acquisition unprorated. Amortization started one month early. A discount amortized the wrong direction. FAR grades the arithmetic of the rule, and those misses only get fixed when review tells you which mechanic broke, not just which letter was right.

They drill MCQs and sight-read the simulations.

FAR simulations are calculation grids built over exhibits that disagree on purpose: a trial balance, a memo that amends it, a schedule with one poisoned row. The first trap you step on should be free, not at Prometric.

They score a 74 and study the same way, harder.

A 74 tempts you to study the same way, just harder. Mine did, twice. Whether you missed by one point or twenty, more hours inside the same method reproduce the same score. What has to change is what a study hour is: fewer lectures rewatched, more misses decoded.

Every MCQ and Task-based simulation in the bank is built against these five. That is the whole design.

Answer one. Decode all four. Then teach it back.

Failure mode 3 from the list above, live: the standard is easy, the direction is the trap.

Here is how you pass.

The failure modes change by section. The prescription does not: 2,000 MCQs, 50 simulations, and every miss decoded.

This method$3k courses
MCQs · 2-3 minutes each 75 hrs 25 hrs

The method is 2,000. This is what they look like:

Simulations · 20-30 minutes each 20 hrs 5 hrs

50 of them. What to read, what to throw out, where the trap is.

Lectures · videos, textbooks, flashcards 0 hrs 105 hrs

Not drill, not decode, not demonstrate. Drop them.

Total for FAR 95 hrs 135 hrs

This method. 2,000 MCQs at 2 to 3 minutes each, answering plus decoding all four options, is 75 hours. 50 simulations at 20 to 30 minutes each is about 20 hours. Teach-backs replace reps, so they add no hours.

The $3k courses. Becker recommends 120 to 150 study hours for FAR; 135 is the midpoint. Their model spends most of it being talked at: 190 advertised hours of video lectures across the program, 500+ page textbooks at five minutes a dense page, flashcards, a Final Review course, and pass-rate fine print that counts you "Exam Day Ready" only after watching 80% of the videos. Run that model inside 135 FAR hours and about 105 go to watching and reading, leaving roughly 30 for MCQs and sims: the two things on your score report. These links were live as of September 2026. If they break, Google it. Their math won't change.

Checking us out

Is ChatCPA legit? Here is how to check.

Every claim below is verifiable by someone who has never given us an email address. Where the honest answer is "we do not know yet," it says so.

Who runs it, and can that be verified?

Nicholas Miller, Oregon CPA licence #14907. The licence is public: it is listed on CPAverify, the national database the state boards report into, independently of anything on this site. ChatCPA is a registered Oregon LLC. There is one person accountable for the content of this bank and he is named on every page.

AI wrote the questions. Are they any good?

Judge them rather than take our word for it. Sixty questions are published in full, ten from every exam section, with the keyed answer and a separate written rationale under each wrong choice. No email, no signup, nothing withheld. One question that was wrong is published there too, with the reason it was pulled.

How do you know the AI content was checked?

Because the rejections are published, not just the survivors. The pipeline made 28,259 build attempts and deleted 10,227 of them, a 36.2% discard rate. Every attempt is in three downloadable logs, each with a SHA-256 so the file you read is the file we published: the March 2026 question build (26,162 rows), the August 2026 question build (1,150 rows), and the simulation build (947 rows: 944 in August, 3 in a September gap fill). They sum to 28,259 with no unpublished remainder. The logs and the method are here.

Does it work? What is the pass rate?

We do not publish one, because we have not collected the data. No CPA review course publishes independently verified candidate outcome data, including this one; several publish self-reported figures without a methodology. What exists here is one founder's documented record, disclosed as such: 67 and 65 on REG before an 82, a 74 twice on FAR before a 79, and an AUD credit passed, expired, and passed again at 87. The dated Oregon Board score notices are published on this site. That is provenance, not proof, and it is stated that way everywhere it appears.

What happens when you get a question wrong?

We pay for it. Find a question in the paid bank whose keyed answer is wrong under the law date it states, be the first to report it, and you are paid $50 per verified question, you keep your access, and the correction is published in the changelog with your name if you want the credit. The binding terms are here. Every correction we make is in the changelog, including defects found by outside reviewers and claims removed for lacking evidence.

What does it cost to find out for yourself?

An email address. No card, no account to create, nothing to install, and you are answering real questions from the bank within a few clicks of landing. A full exam's worth of MCQs and three simulations per section are free. Paid access is $59 a month or $499 once, half price with a failing score notice, with a seven day refund if you have worked under 100 questions.

What is it not, and who should not buy it?

There are no video lectures anywhere on this site, on purpose. If you learn from lectures, buy a lecture course; this is not a substitute for one and does not claim to be. It is also useless to anyone who is not going to drill. Coverage by AICPA Blueprint area is published including the topics where this bank is still thin.

The bank holds 17,651 multiple-choice questions and 603 task-based simulations across all six exam sections. If any statement on this page turns out to be wrong, tell us and the correction goes in the changelog like every other one.
